Frequently Asked Questions
Below you can find a selection of questions we are often asked. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email our fundraising manager, Emma, at: fundraising@wsupcharity.org.
We are happy to help!
How can I tell you about the fundraising activity I have organised?
Once you have decided what you would like to do, please tell us about your fundraising so we can support your fundraising journey. Whatever amount you raise will make a difference to indviduals without access to affordable, safe, clean water.
Can you help me promote my fundraising challenge/activity?
Yes! If you already know how you want to raise money for the WSUP Charity, please tell us. We can then send you a fundraising pack of information to help you get started and ideas for how we can help promote your activity.
Do you have any materials to help me with my fundraising?
Yes. We can supply a variety of materials to help with your fundraising, from sponsorship forms to social media frames. Please tell us about your plans so we know what to send.
What safety and legal elements do I need to consider?
Your safety is a priority so there are some things you need to consider to stay safe and legal whilst fundraising.
If you are holding an event in a public place, you will need permission from the property owner or local authority. You may also need Public Liability Insurance if your event involves the general public – your venue may already have this.
If lots of people will be present, you should also consider First Aid support and could seek advice from St John Ambulance or the British Red Cross.
If you plan to take photos during your event, you should make any attendees aware.
If you will be preparing, handling, cooking or storing food, you should also check the guidance of the Food Standards Agency.
Some forms of fundraising require an additional license, such as public collections and lotteries, using recordd music, putting up banners or signs in public spaces. Please contact your local authority to find out what licenses you might need.
Finally, please only collection data and information that you need, keep it safe and do not store if for longer than you need to.
If you have any questions about safety and legal aspects of your planned fundraising, please feel free to contact Emma at: fundraising@wsupcharity.org.
Please note: The WSUP Charity cannot be held liable for accidents, injuries, loss or damage as a result of your fundraising or event.
How can I set up a website page to receive donations online?
The easiest way to set up a website page to start receiving donations online for your fundraising is to use a platform like JustGiving. Here you can create your own page, share it with friends and family, and connect it to the WSUP Charity.
If you’re fundraising in the UK, you can also earn an extra 25p for every £1 donated by encouraging your supporters to GiftAid their donation.
If you wish to also collect donations offline, please email Emma for a sponsorship form at: fundraising@wsupcharity.org
How can I pay in donations I receive in person?
If you wish to pay in your donations collected in person, please email Emma for our banking details at: fundraising@wsupcharity.org

“Handwashing is my protection against infection”
Stephanie is a 14-year-old pupil of Wenchi Junior High School in Ghana.
Following a water project at her school, Stephanie and her fellow students can now wash their hands with soap under running water after visiting the toilet and throughout the day as needed.
Stephanie is happy with the new facilities and the health impact of access to running water and soap.
Stephanie says, “I believe proper hand washing with soap under running water is my protection against infection.”
